FICA R100,000 cash conveyance reporting from 1 July 2026; anti-dumping on PET and safeguard duties on steel
Effective from
01 Jul 2026
Government Gazette 54820 carries seven notices. Notice R.7577 (National Treasury) amends the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Control Regulations to require any person conveying R100,000 or more in cash or bearer negotiable instruments into or out of South Africa to report to an authorised official under section 30 of FICA, effective 1 July 2026. Authorised officials must forward reports to the FIC within two days. Failure to provide the required information is a criminal offence under new Regulation 29(6O). Separately, SARS notices impose a 43.77% anti-dumping duty on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) from China (excluding five named producers) effective on gazettal (R.7582), phased safeguard duties on flat-rolled steel products ranging from 22.34% to 52.34% (R.7579), a full-duty rebate for specific aluminium alloy profiles not available in the SACU market (R.7583), and retrospective cheese tariff-rate quota adjustments for September–December 2025 (R.7578).
